Lash infills are necessary to maintain the health of natural lashes, because as our lashes grow, so does the extensions on it, causing weight and premature shedding if not replaced. In previous articles we have discussed how long does eyelash extensions last once applied and how important it is to know the growth circle of natural lashes in order to keep applying healthy extensions in every appointment.
Did you know that eyelash extensions can damage natural lashes when are not infilled or removed in correct time?
How often your client should come in for touch up? Depending on how fast their natural lashes grow. Some clients might need an infill within 2 weeks, some within 3 weeks. Proper follow up on your clients lash growth circle must be strictly observed and analysed to prevent damage. During your infill appointment the lashes that has grown too much out, are being removed mechanically by using high quality sharp lash tweezers and of course needs good technique so no discomfort or pain in removing outgrowths would occur.
In a situation when your client can’t come for infill within 3 week, the maximum period of wearing extensions WITHOUT an infill is 4-6 weeks depending on how fast natural lashes grow. In this case lashes should normally be removed mechanically with tweezer if there are few left, if not cream remover will be needed for safe removal and correct preparation of natural lashes before new set of eyelashes take place.
To sum up, ignoring outgrown lashes and not maintaining the correct weight of extensions due to the natural lash growth circle can cause serious consequences to the natural lashes and eyes. Above all eyelashes should be all about maintaining good health to your clients. You as an artist should bring that understanding in relationship with a client.
