Sure not forever! Why? Because just like the hair on our head, eyelashes shed. They fall out with their natural hair growth cycle.
Why we don’t see that on a daily basis?
Because our eyelashes are so tiny, we rarely notice when they fall. When we have extensions on, they’re more visible for us and this can be scary if we don’t really know how this shedding thing works. Let me explain to you how, so that you and your clients can benefit from simple language of why we lose lashes and why lash extensions don’t stay on forever.
Are we supposed to lose extensions with our natural lashes on?
YES! We should lose one extensions attached to one natural lashes.
How often does that happen?
First we must understand how our lashes grow. Each individual natural lash have their own plan and speed of growth. Normally all our natural lashes are being exchanged within 90 days, but not all of them at the same time, if this would happen we would be hairless.
Natural lashes grow in three main phases called anagen, catagen and telogen. We can call them a baby lash, a teenage lash and an old lashes which is about to leave, to make space for the baby lash again! So when lashes reached its maximum growth length its falling.
We are suppose to lose from 2-5 lashes from each eye, every single day, so that new lashes can start growing out!
Let’s make a simple math. If a lash artist apply 120 lashes on each eye and we lose 3 lashes on average per day, per eye, in three weeks – 21 days we will lose 63 lashes including the extensions. Half of the eyelashes will be gone, so that’s a call for infill! Keep in mind that these lashes which have grown but didn’t fall out because its not their time yet, they must be taken off and replaced with new ones! That’s why infills should take time within 2-3 weeks depending on the method!
How often you must come for infill also depends on the speed of growth of your natural lashes. We must remember that this is very individual for every human body, our diet, health etc.
